How Toddlers Are Like Cats

I have a cat, Liger.  He is 20 pounds (more than E), huge, unpredictable, and generally annoyed by the fact that I have had children.  My husband got him for me before we were married because I REALLY wanted a kitten.  I was am such an idiot.  It occurred to me this morning, after a series of events that included pee, scratching, and a ton of whining - that cats and toddlers have an awful lot in common.  Or maybe it's just my kid... and my cat.

Cats:
cry
bite
stink
scratch
love milk
hate the shower
mark their territory
are mesmerized by tv
love to sleep in your lap
love to sleep on your bed
are so cute when they are little
hate to have their nails clipped
get annoyed when you move them
are always trying to get onto the table
wake you up by climbing all over you
always sniff/admire their poop and pee
don't like when people touch their toys
dig holes in house plants/knock them over
are always trying to escape out the back door
always pee as soon as you get them into the car
are ALWAYS standing on what you want to read
sometimes like to be snuggled, sometimes don't
are always trying to eat out of your ice cream bowl
think they own the house and treat you like a visitor
some times pee where they are supposed to, sometimes don't
secretly hate you, they only don't kill you because they know they can't
are sometimes violent and some times loving - seemingly without rhyme or reason
for some reason (an unknown one) you love them unconditionally, against all reason and logic

Right?

UPDATE: I keep thinking of more --

They both like playing with trash
They both think it's totally ok to eat out of the trash
They both can be entertained for hours with a box, a toilet paper roll, or wrapping paper
If you try to put them in a room and shut the door, they are always scratching at it
They are always pawing at you
They LOVE laundry baskets

What else is there?!

Hop on over to these blogs where - if they are lucky - I'll share this :)

There are a lot of similarities aren't there. I love cats, so maybe that is why I love toddlers! lol

Too funny! Does your cat come out when the toddler is amiss? Mine don't. They wait until she's down for the night and I don't end up with a second to myself. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays.

My cat avoids the kids at all costs.

Completely true - can both take up a whole bed whilst only apparently occupying a small space in it! Alice

Here's one: you find things they shouldn't have swallowed in their poop.

Neither come when you call them, but as soon as you sit down for a moment to relax, they are all up in your business and climbing all over you.
